RICHMOND, Va. – Florida Atlantic men's golf finished eighth (-18) at the VCU Shootout on Tuesday.
Max Sturdza (-11) tied for fifth individually, his second top five in as many starts so far this fall.
- Sturdza circled another eight birdies on Tuesday to finish the event with 18 total
- Tuesday's shotgun start saw Sturdza begin his day on the par-four seventh. The senior ran into trouble with a seven at the 17th hole but recovered to birdie five of his last seven holes and finish at -11 for the tournament
- The three-under 69 was Sturdza's sixth consecutive round in the 60s.
- The Owls also got a solid round on Tuesday from Jack Wehle who tied a career-best with a two-under 70.
- Wehle balanced two birdies with two bogeys while also adding an eagle-three at the par-five fifth hole.
- The junior finished tied for 23rd at -4 – a career-best finish for the second year Owl
After back-to-back events, the Owls will have a week of rest before heading to Greenville, N.C. for the Ironwood Collegiate Classic on October 2-3.
