BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University's men's and women's cross country teams will hit the road for the first time in 2023 to compete in the Mountain Dew XC Invitational, hosted by the University of Florida.

The race, to be held in Gainesville, will mark the second of four regular season meets for the women's team and second of three for the men. The men will race an 8K while the women will race on a 3m course.Â

Florida Atlantic had a strong start to the fall season at the ninth annual FAU Invite with the men's team finishing in sixth place out of 16 teams and the women's team placing in fourth out of 18.

Women (5K)
- The race was highlighted by Elyssa Toal finishing in sixth place out of 178 runners (18:22.3)
- Casey O'Connor recorded a time of 19:15.5, finishing in 27th place
- Jordan Stevens placed in 29th (19:21.4)

Men (5K)
- Paul Glick was the top finisher for the Owls, 24th place out of 136 runners, with a time of 16:32.1
- Logan Sallas followed closely behind in 34th place (16:46.5)
- Samuel Henery was next to cross the finish line for the Owls in 41st place (16:55.2)

The Owls will have the next weekend off before regrouping in Tallahassee to compete at the FSU XC Invite on Friday, Sep. 29.
