BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic women's soccer kept a clean sheet and earned its first win of 2023 with a 3-0 triumph over Texas A&M – Corpus Christi on Sunday afternoon.
Sloane Young opened the scoring with her first goal as an Owl in the 15th minute. From the left side of the Islanders' penalty area, Morgan McDonald drove a hard cross to the back post where Young was waiting to tap it home.
The Owls added a second goal just before halftime. In the 39th minute, Drew Dempsey drew a foul just outside the top of the penalty area. She then redirected Kayla Siddiqi's free kick into the top left corner for her first goal of the season.
10 minutes after halftime, Elin Simonardottir completed the scoring with her third of the season. Olivia Bori eluded multiple defenders down the right side and sent a cross to the back post. Molly Setsma corralled it from there and the Owls' sophomore from Iceland was waiting to finish it off just in front of goal.
A&M – CC managed just one shot on goal for the entirety of the match and it was palmed away from danger by Blythe Braun.
