STILLWATER, Okla. – Florida Atlantic women's soccer (0-1-2) just couldn't find the back of the net on Thursday night as the Owls fell in a 3-0 battle against the Oklahoma State Cowgirls (2-1) at Neal Patterson Stadium.
Morgan McDonald committed the first shot of the contest, aiming for the top left of the net, but the Cowgirls keeper collected it to deny the Owls' attack. Oklahoma State struck first, breaking the scoreless stalemate in the 16th minute of play, 1-0. The Owls went back on the attack, outshooting the Cowgirls 4-3 through the 40th minute, however, the Cowgirls were able to extend their lead to two after Adelhia Ghonda sent one over Blythe Braun to send the Owls into the locker room facing a 2-0 deficit.
Shortly after the start of the second half, Oklahoma State tacked on the final goal of the contest in the 49th minute to push the Cowgirl lead to 3-0. The Owls' attempted to rally with a pair of shots on goal over the final 15 minutes of play, but nothing would go as the Owls fell 3-0.
Sloane Young led the Owls in shots with three, while Morgan McDonald, Michelle Horan, and Malaya Melancon split the Owls' three shots on goal. Olivia Bori also recorded a shot on the night for the Owls.
