Schanuel Becomes Five-Time First Team All-American

BOCA RATON, Fla. – D1Baseball.com has named Nolan Schanuel as a First Team All-American, the publication announced on Friday. That makes five outlets that have included the Owls' slugger on its first team joining the ABCA, Collegiate Baseball, Perfect Game, and Baseball America. The NCBWA named Schanuel to its second team.

The reigning Conference USA Player of the Year is the first player in program history to earn First Team All-American honors from three or more outlets. C.J. Chatham is the only other player in program history to earn five or more all-america nods, with two first team and four second team selections in 2016.

In his third season as an Owl, Schanuel led the nation in batting average (.447), on base percentage (.615), and walks (71). Schanuel also led C-USA in slugging percentage (.868), hits (88), and OPS (1.483). He was a semifinalist for several national honors, including USA Baseball's Golden Spikes Award and the Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award. Schanuel is projected to be the first first round pick in Florida Atlantic history when the MLB Draft takes place on July 9.
