BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University softball team will travel to Daytona Beach, Florida, where they will play a Tuesday doubleheader versus host Bethune-Cookman, starting at 1 p.m. and will then travel to Jacksonville for a 3 p.m. Wednesday twin bill versus host UNF.
The Owls have passed the halfway point of the season with 29 games under their belts, holding a 19-10 record. FAU has played 14 games in the month of March and has seen several players march through the month building a resume that is sure to catch eyes for postseason accolades.
Cammeo Presutti is one such player hitting .469 this month and as a leadoff hitter she is reaching base nearly 50 percent of the time, a .481 clip. Guaranteed to put the ball in play she has just two walks compared to one strikeout in March.
Olivia Peterson has provided the team's power with a team leading four March extra base hits, two doubles and two homers.
Riley Ennis has matched Peterson's March power with two doubles and two homers, including one grand slam and she leads the team with 14 March RBI.
While the Owl hitters are hitting .294 this month, the pitchers are holding opposing batters to a .172 batting average and a FAU hold a team ERA of 1.31 over the same time period. The hurlers have been led by sophomore
Gabby Sacco, who has allowed just two earned runs in 34 innings of work. She is 5-0 in March and tossed her first no-hitter and the first FAU no-no since 2016.
FAU will head to Bethune-Cookman holding a 34-5 all-time record against the Wildcats. The following day, FAU will carry a 6-4 all-time record to UNF, but enter the contest with a 1-1 record in Jacksonville.
