BOCA RATON, Fla. - It is the classic tale of three seasons, all of which are building towards the team's Conference USA tournament hopes. The Florida Atlantic University men's tennis team, ranked No. 51 nationally, head into the final leg of the 2023 campaign by hosting their next six matches. The first on that slate is this Friday at 2 p.m. versus UCF.
FAU opened the 2023 campaign with three home matches followed by two competitive road contests, including one at FSU, which was ranked No. 10 at the time. The two road matches began an 11-match road swing that next took the team to Austin, Texas for the ITA Kickoff weekend. Then it was two in Deland, Florida, followed by two at ACC opponents Miami and Clemson, followed by Vanderbilt and then back to Texas for two in San Antonio facing opponents ranked No. 66 and 67. The challenging month of February paid off for FAU with a 7-7 mark and a No. 51 national ranking, marking the fifth consecutive season.
The Owls home stand will provide the opportunity to showcase the depth this squad has built and will be an opportunity to solidify a lineup as they head into postseason. Four players enter March with a positive record.
Hunter Robbins leads the way at 8-2,
Joao Graca is 6-4,
Filip Krolo is 5-4 and
Kevin Huempfner has anchored the top two courts and is 4-4 on the year. Collectively, the doubles teams holds a 16-15 mark on the season with 10 different combinations. Krolo and Graca are 4-1 as a duo while Huempfner and Robbins are 5-3.
