Owls Ready for Indoor Championships

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women's track & field team will wrap up their indoor season at the 2023 Conference USA Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday. The meet will be hosted by UAB in Birmingham, Alabama, the very location where they opened their season with the successful Blazer and Vulcan Invites.

Last Time Out

Celebration Pointe Classic

Jessica Lambert has set a new school record in every weekend she has competed in this season, and that did not change at the Celebration Pointe Classic. This time she made her mark in the 600m (1:29.85)
Lambert, along with Cara Simpson, Anabell Reumann, and Elyssa Toal set a school record in the distance medley with a time of 11:55.61
Eriana Teague set an FAU record in the 300m (40.34)
Rosa ten Berg took first place in the 800m (2:12.18)
The Owls took the top four spots in the 1000m run, Reumann led the way with a time of 2:59.62, second best in school history, followed by Jordan Stevens in second place (3:01.01), Paige Saiz in third (3:02.2), and Leah Helms in fourth (3:04.73)
Dahlia Barnes earned second place in the long jump with a mark of 5.67, fifth best in FAU history

Owls at the 2022 Indoor Championships

The Owls in 2022 made their mark in Birmingham setting, at the time, the school record in the distance medley. Casey O'Connor, Jordan Stevens, Paige Saiz, and Teague finished in seventh place with a time of 11:59.61. The team also saw strong performances in the finals. Lambert finished in fifth place in the 800m (2:11.04), while Simpson finished in sixth place in the 60m (7.58)

Dahlia Barnes – 15th in long jump (5.50m)
Abrayia Elam – 15th in 60m (7.71), 19th in 200m (25.09)
Kappeler – 11th in 3000m (9:51.31), 18th in mile (5:05.28)
Lambert – 1st in 800m (2:06.98), 12th in 400m (57.47)
Karina Nentwig – 15th in high jump (1.55)
Reumann – 19th in mile (5:07)
Simpson – 7th in 60m (7.52), 12th in 200m (24.79)
ten Berg – 4th in 800m (2:12.18)
4x400 relay (Lambert, Mundell, Simpson, Teague) – 3rd (3:49.88)
Distance Medley relay (Lambert, Reumann Simpson, Total) – 1st (11:55.61)

Upcoming

This will conclude the Owls' final indoor season competing in Conference USA, as they are moving to the American Athletic Conference in 2024. In the meantime, there is still the outdoor season to forward to, beginning on March 17 in Tampa. The Owls are scheduled to compete in five outdoor meets before the conference championships on May 11-15.
