BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University men's soccer fell in defeat for the first time this season on Saturday night. The Owls were downed 2-0 by No. 23 Lipscomb University at home.
FAU fell behind 1-0 in the 13th minute off a Lipscomb corner kick and they would go into halftime trailing by the same score. The Bison extended their advantage to two shortly after the restart as the second half would grow increasingly chippy.
All totaled, eight yellow cards and three red cards were handed out between the two teams. Shot attempts favored Lipscomb 13-9 as did shots on goal (8-3). The Owls best chance to get on the board came in the 74th minute when
Andreas Raisanen was denied on a diving save by LU goalkeeper Michael Sibley. At the other end,
Neil Strauber finished with seven saves in goal for FAU.
The Owls return to action with their first road trip of the season next week. They'll face Army on Wednesday and Marist on Saturday in upstate New York.
