TULSA, Okla. – Florida Atlantic men's soccer earned its first American Conference win of the season on Saturday night, a 4-3 road victory over Tulsa. The win extended the Owls' unbeaten streak to eight games, setting a new program record for consecutive matches without a defeat.
The Owls (3-0-5, 1-0-2) opened the scoring in the 12th minute off a corner kick.
Enzo Rabot delivered the service to
Emil Lausten, who headed home his first career goal. Five minutes later, the Rabot-Lausten connection was at it again, this time off a free kick. Rabot again delivered a perfect ball, and Lausten outjumped the Tulsa defenders with another header to make it 2-0.
Tulsa (3-3-3, 1-1-1) got one back to cut the Owls' lead to 2-1 at the halftime break. However, the Owls regained complete control to open the second half, scoring two goals in the first seven minutes of the half. Rabot continued his set-piece dominance with his third assist of the night in the 48th minute. The Frenchman found
Francesco Aiello with a free kick into the Tulsa six-yard box to reinstate the two-goal lead, 3-1. Three minutes after that,
Colin Beutel played
Michel Tentchou on a breakaway, and the Owls' leading scorer converted his fourth of the season to make it 4-1.
The Golden Hurricane didn't go quietly in the final 30 minutes. A goal in the 77th minute and a penalty kick in the 84th minute trimmed the Owls' lead to one, but the comeback hopes ended there.
Both teams finished with 12 shot attempts. The Owls put nine on target compared to four for Tulsa.
