BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team closes out the opening week of the season on Saturday against the Lipscomb Bison – the 23rd ranked team in DI men's soccer.

LAST TIME OUT

The Owls earned a 2-1 win over Stetson on Wednesday night
FAU fell behind in the 38th minute but tied the game just six minutes later
Leo Keller converted a corner kick header sent into the box by Spencer Mallion for his first goal of the season
The Owls took the lead in the opening minute of the second half
Victor Claudel tallied his third goal of the season from the penalty spot after a Stetson handball
Neil Strauber made four saves to earn the win in goal

ABOUT THE OWLS

The Owls are unbeaten in their opening two games for the third consecutive season
FAU started 3-1 last season and 3-1-1 in 2020
Claudel has already scored three times in two games – that total would have made him the team's fourth highest goal scorer for all of 2021
Six players made their season debut on Wednesday including Mallion (one assist), Nacho Alastuey (three shots), and Keller (goal, two shots)
Neil Strauber is currently eighth all-time for FAU goalkeepers in saves (125) – he needs four to tie Mark Coustopolous (1983-85) for seventh in program history
Wednesday's match moved Strauber into a tie for third all-time in goalkeeper wins (16)

After finishing 12-4-2 in 2021, Lipscomb is once again expected to be one of the powerhouses of the ASUN conference
The Bison are 2-0 so far and coming off a 2-1 win over No. 10 Saint Louis on Sunday
Newcomer Jelldrik Dallmann has three goals and an assist in the first two games
Senior Hayes Wood (9 G, 4 A) and junior Tyrese Spicer (8 G, 7 A) were the Bison's top two goal scorers last season
Head coach Charles Morrow is in his 18th season in charge
