BOCA RATON, Fla.
– The Coastal Collegiate Sports Association announced its major award winners for the 2021-22 swimming & diving season on Friday.
Rateb Hussein, a junior on the Florida Atlantic University men's swimming & diving team, was named CCSA Men's Swimmer of the Year. Hussein's honors are well-deserved after a sensational junior campaign for the Owls.
Hussein's season culminated with him receiving CCSA Most Outstanding Swimmer of the Meet honors at the conference championships. He is the conference champion in the 100 free (also setting a meet record at 43.78), 200 fly and 100 fly. The junior was on the 4x100 relay team that won the conference championship at 2:56.46. At the championship meet, Hussein also achieved NCAA 'B' cuts in the 100 free, 100 fly and 200 fly.
This season, Hussein broke a handful of FAU program records. He set new school bests in the 100 fly (46.74) and 200 fly (1:44.94). Hussein was also on the FAU 400 free relay team that set the school record at 2:58.57. He was a three-time CCSA Swimmer of the Week honoree, which ties his teammate
Alec Peckmann for the most in the conference this season.
