No. 10 Sandy Owls to Play in UNF Invite

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The No. 10th-ranked Florida Atlantic University beach volleyball team (12-7, 5-1 in Conference USA) has another slate of tough tests this weekend at the North Florida Invitational. UNF is hosting the tournament at the Coop in Jacksonville. The Owls will face three ranked teams and one who has received votes in this past week's AVCA Coaches Poll.

No. 11 Georgia State
- GSU moved up two spots from last week's AVCA Poll, tying for 11th in this week's poll. The Panthers are 12-9, 3-2 in C-USA, while previously coming off wins against Coastal Carolina (5-0) and Stetson (3-2) at the Stetson Beach Bash
- GSU's top pair in Kelly Dorn and Elise Saga have logged an 12-4 record in the Panthers' No. 1 flight with five of those victories coming against ranked opponents
- The Ferary sisters in Angel and Bella on court four are 19-2 on the season
No. 4 Florida State
- The No. 4 Seminoles are 16-4 to begin the season with its only losses coming against No. 4/5 TCU (2-3 and 1-4), No. 2 USC (1-3) and No. 1 UCLA (2-3)
- Alaina Chacon/Madison Fitzpatrick hold the best pair record at 13-1, 3-0 on court two and 10-1 on court three. Chacon leads the Seminoles with a 14-1 mark
- Maddie Anderson/Brook Bauer hold it down on court one with a 10-3 record
No. 18 Pepperdine
- The Waves enter this weekend with a 14-5 record with notable wins coming against Long Beach State (3-2) and CSU Bakersfield (3-2)
- Melanie Paul/Madison Shields hold it down for Pepperdine with a 14-5 record, all on court one
- Simone Priebe/McKenna Thomas hold the best record as a pair on the squad at 16-3 on court two
(RV) North Florida
- UNF received votes in this past week's AVCA Poll, holding a 16-5 record this season. The Osprey have knocked off Coastal Carolina (3-2), Nebraska (4-1) and Palm Beach Atlantic (3-2 and 4-1), among other teams this season
- Taryn Griffey/Callie Workman, UNF's court one pair, are 13-8 on the season
- Court two's pair in Lauren Gallnis/Carlegh Semeniuk lead UNF with a 15-6 mark

The March to May
- FAU went 3-1 last weekend at the Stetson Beach Bash, while taking down two of three C-USA opponents
- The Owls started the weekend out on a high note with a 4-1 win over No. 18 tournament host Stetson. Courtney Moon/Marketa Svozilova clinched the match on court two with a 21-18, 21-15 victory
- FAU finished up Saturday's action with a 4-1 feat over C-USA's No. 13 Georgia State. All courts were wrapped up in straight sets with Ellie Austin/Julie Honzovicova clinching the match on court three with a 21-12, 21-12 feat
- FAU's only blemish on the weekend came against No. 19 FIU, as the Owls dropped the C-USA match 3-2 with its wins coming on court one from Erica Brok/Mackenzie Morris and court four (Jillienne Cangelosi/Kate McLaughlin)
- The Owls finished the weekend out strong with a sweep over C-USA opponent Coastal Carolina, 5-0. Austin/Cangelosi clinched the match on court three, 21-18, 21-14
