DELAND, Fla. – The No. 10th-ranked Florida Atlantic University beach volleyball team (11-6, 4-0 in Conference USA) picked up two victories over ranked opponents on day one of the Stetson Beach Bash. FAU opened up the tournament with a 4-1 win over tournament host, No. 18 Stetson and wrapped up the day with a 4-1 feat over C-USA foe No. 13 Georgia State. The Owls have now won four straight matches.

Courts four, five and six started the match off, as both the four's and five's went into three sets. On court five,
Abby Jackson and
Logan Mignerey fell behind after a first-set loss, 18-21, but came back to win the next two, 21-19, 15-12, to put the Owls on the board first, 1-0. First-time partners
Jillienne Cangelosi and Kate McLaughlin took their first set, 22-20, but the Hatters forced a third after the duo fell 16-21 in the second. Cangelosi/McLaughlin prevailed in the third set, 15-12, as FAU led 2-0.

Marketa Svozilova got things done on court two against one of Stetson's leading pairs in straight sets, 21-18, 21-15, to clinch the match for FAU.

The Owls fell behind 1-0 following GSU's court four pair winning in straight sets, 16-21, 17-21. FAU quickly evened the score following a 21-15, 21-17 win from Jackson/Mignerey on court five to extend their winning streak as a pair to four. Court one's Brok/Morris bounced back from this morning's loss to cruise through their match with a win, 21-11, 21-13. Austin/Honzovicova clinched the match on court three with a 21-12, 21-12 win. All matches were won in straight sets, as court two's win courtesy of Moon/Svozilova gave the Owls' their fourth dual point of the match (21-14, 21-13). FAU defeated the Panthers, 4-1.
