No. 10 Sandy Owls to Spend Weekend in DeLand

 BOCA RATON, Fla. – The No. 10th-ranked Florida Atlantic University beach volleyball team (9-6, 3-0 in Conference USA) is ready to hit the road once again for the Stetson Beach Bash this weekend. FAU is coming off being ranked No. 10 in the latest AVCA Poll, which is the first time the program has cracked the top 10. The team will face No. 18 Stetson, as well as C-USA opponents No. 13 Georgia State, No. 19 FIU and Coastal Carolina.

The Owls will head up north to Jacksonville for the North Florida Invite from Friday, April 1 to Saturday, April 2. FAU will square off against Georgia State, Florida State, Pepperdine and North Florida across those two days.

Scouting the Competition
Stetson
- The No. 18 Hatters are 8-8 with big wins coming against No. 18 South Carolina (4-1), No. 20 Florida Gulf Coast (4-1) and North Florida (4-1)
- Court two's pair of Carolina Ferraris and Anete Namike leads Stetson with a 12-2 record on flight two, 12-4 overall
- Stetson's court one pair in Shae Henson and Kylie Neuschaeferova have earned two ASUN Pair of the Week awards and are 8-7 on the season
Georgia State
- The No. 13 Panthers have commenced the year 10-7. After two narrow losses to begin the year to Tulane (2-3) and LSU (2-3), GSU has picked up wins against Stetson (3-2), South Carolina (4-1) and Tulane (3-1)
- GSU's top pair in Kelly Dorn and Elise Saga have logged an 11-1 record in the Panthers' No. 1 flight with five of those victories coming against ranked opponents
- Kayla Whetstone and Yasmin Kuck have been honored with C-USA Pair of the Week recognition following a 4-1 performance at the Horned Frog Challenge, including over No. 5 TCU
FIU
- FIU is an impressive 11-1 to start the season, coming in at No. 19 in the latest AVCA Poll. The team's most notable wins of the season have come against Nebraska (5-0), UNF (4-1 twice) and Florida Gulf Coast (4-1)
- Giada Bianchi and Paige Kalkhoff lead the Panthers with an 11-1 record, all on court one
- Kalkhoff and Roberta Ribeiro were named to the C-USA Preseason All-Conference Team
Coastal Carolina
- The Chanticleers are 15-4 through four weeks of the season. Coastal Carolina has knocked off Nebraska (4-1), Jacksonville (5-0) and Palm Beach Atlantic (3-2), among other schools
- Coastal Carolina is led by Ellie Hanford/Natalie Honzovicova, who are 18-1 this season (3-0 on court two and 15-1 on court three). The pair has enjoyed a 10-game winning streak, while being named C-USA Pair of the Week this season
- Irena Drobnjak and Martine Kragholm were tabbed to the C-USA Preseason All-Conference Team

The March to May
- The Owls went 2-3 at the March to May, with their losses coming against the No. 1, No. 7 and No. 15 teams in the country
- FAU opened up the first day of the tournament with losses against No. 1 UCLA, 3-0, as well as a tight loss to No. 15 South Carolina
- After falling to No. 7 Grand Canyon, 4-1, the Owls swept tournament host UAB for the second time this season, but this time getting it done on all courts in straight-set wins
- The highlight of the weekend came on Sunday, as FAU defeated No. 5 LSU to hand the Tigers, who came into the match 15-0, their first loss of the season. FAU won 3-2 thanks to wins on courts five (Abby Jackson/Logan Mignerey), two (Courtney Moon/Marketa Svozilova) and the dual-clinching point from court one (Erica Brok/Mackenzie Morris)
- Brok/Morris are coming off being named C-USA Pair of the Week for the second time this season following a 4-1 weekend in Gulf Shores, Alabama
