Owls Split on Sunday

DELAND, Fla. – The No. 10th-ranked Florida Atlantic University beach volleyball team (12-7, 5-1 in Conference USA) split its two games on the final day of the Stetson Beach Bash. FAU fell to C-USA foe FIU, 3-2, but bounced back to defeat Coastal Carolina in dominating fashion, 5-0.

Court five's Abby Jackson/Logan Mignerey saw its four-match winning streak come to an end following a 19-21, 18-21 loss. The Owls would quickly tie up the match after Jillienne Cangelosi/Kate McLaughlin earned the win on court four in straight sets, 21-17, 22-20. FIU pulled back ahead, as Courtney Moon/Marketa Svozilova dropped court two, 19-21, 15-21. The Panthers clinched the match after Ellie Austin/Julie Honzovicova fell on court three, 19-21, 18-21. Erica Brok/Mackenzie Morris would win on court one in three, 19-21, 21-19, 15-13, but the Owls fell 3-2 to the Panthers.

Maylin Bouffard/McLaughlin had a thrilling three-set win on court four, taking the third set 18-16 after winning the first set 21-12 and dropping the second 20-22. Austin/Cangelosi took care of business on court three (21-18, 21-14) to clinch the FAU win. Brok/Morris won on court one, 21-15, 21-12, while Courtney Moon/Marketa Svozilova defeated CCU in three sets to wrap up the weekend, 18-21, 21-15, 15-13.
