BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women's track & field team returns to Miami this Saturday with a full squad to compete in the Miami Hurricane Collegiate Invitational. This one day meet will mark the second of three meets in Miami scheduled during the spring outdoor season.

- The Owls opened up their outdoor season competing with a split squad in two events: The UCF Black & Gold Invitational and the Miami Hurricane Invitational
- A lightning delay at the UCF meet did not slow down the Owls. They competed in the 2000m steeplechase and finished with the top two times in school history. Erin Shannon beat the previous record by almost 30 seconds with a time of 7:32.82 while Alexis Hill finished with a time of 7:52.81
- Casey O'Connor also competed in the UCF meet, running in the 1500m. She finished with a time of 4:39.85, eighth all time in school history
- In Miami, Kaitlyn Kirby placed in the top ten in two events, finishing eighth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.42 (10th all time in school history) and tied for ninth in the long jump (5.67), good for sixth all time in school history
- Breyanna Chambliss tied with Kirby in the long jump
- Jessica Lambert in the 400m hurdles finished in third place with a time of 1:03.70
- Cara Simpson placed in sixth in the 400m run with a time of 56.94

- Kirby – 4th in 100m hurdles (14.42), tied for 5th in long jump (5.67)
- Kendall Kirkland – 16th in 400m hurdles (1:13.90)
- Lambert – 5th in 400m hurdles (1:03.70)
- Alyssa Marshall – 17th in 100m (12.56)
- Melissa Mundell – 10th in 400m (1:00.45)
- O'Connor – 5th in 1500m (4:39.85)
- Simpson – 6th in 400m (56.94)
- Eriana Teague – 14th in 400m hurdles (1:09.70)

Next Friday, the Owls will head out of state for the first time this spring to compete in the High Point Invitational in North Carolina.
