BOCA RATON, FLA. – The FAU softball team is set to begin Conference USA action this weekend against Louisiana Tech. The Owls and Lady Techsters will square off in a three-game set beginning this Friday at 6 p.m. Saturday's first pitch is set for 4 p.m., and the Sunday game will start at 1 p.m.

The Owls are 7-4 against Louisiana Tech dating back to the 2014 season. FAU won the last meeting between these two teams in the Conference USA Tournament in 2018 by a 7-4 tally.

Sara Berthiaume, the Owls' leading hitter, is riding a 10-game hitting streak entering this weekend's series. Berthiaume is hitting .409 this year to rank eighth in Conference USA. She has recorded four triples so far which leads all players in the conference.

Freshman pitcher
Gabby Sacco is off to a good start this year, with a 6-3 record and a 2.04 ERA. Sacco ranks sixth in the conference in earned run average and is tied for sixth in wins. She tossed a complete game shutout last time out in the win over SIUE.

Zoey Jones recorded her first home run of the season in the victory over SIUE. The sophomore first baseman ripped a solo shot to right, which was the Owls' sixth home run of the campaign. Six different players have gone deep as
Sommer Baker,
Olivia Peterson,
Riley Olson,
Lynn Gardner and Berthiaume have all homered this year in addition to Jones.

FAU is four wins away from getting head coach
Joan Joyce to 1,000 victories in her career. Joyce would become just the 27
th coach in NCAA Division I history to reach that milestone. The Owls will hit the road and face North Texas from March 18-20.
