BOCA RATON, Fla. – A 7-0 Florida Atlantic University victory over Mercer on Saturday afternoon pushed the Owls' record to 7-0 on the year. The 7-0 start is the longest season-opening winning streak for the Owls, surpassing the previous long set in 2002.

The Owls match, which was moved from noon to 10 a.m. due to expected bad weather, saw FAU run the table on the doubles' courts.

Then the squads moved into singles play, and it wasn't long before FAU had clinched the match three-straight set wins on courts three, two and six. The trio Alvaro Fernandez Horta, Kevin Heumpfner and Finn Stodder gave up just nine games combined. Huempfner and Stodder moved to 7-0 on the year.
