BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team tied the longest winning streak in program history on Wednesday night. The Owls walloped the Bobcats of St. Thomas by a final score of 97-74 for FAU's eighth-straight win, which matches the 2010-11 team's school record.

Not only are the 9-1 Owls winning, they have been winning big. This is FAU's seventh-straight win by double digits and fourth-straight win by 20 points or more.

Today's win in Boca Raton pushes FAU to an undefeated 6-0 mark at home. The Owls are also now 50-14 at home dating back to 2018-19, head coach
Dusty May's first year with FAU.

The Owls came out hot, making their first six shots of the game to open a 17-8 lead.
Nick Boyd connected on back-to-back 3-pointers to end the opening run. Boyd finished the night tying his career-high of 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the floor and 4-of-6 shooting from 3-point range.

Alijah Martin's prowess was on display, scoring 14 points in just over six minutes of action after checking in early in the first half. Martin, FAU's leading scorer, finished the night with 18 points on 5-of-7 shooting to boost his average to 14.6 points per game on the season.

The Owls' red-hot shooting in the first half (57.8%, 26-of-45) propelled FAU to a 50-24 lead at the break, which marks the Owls' best-scoring first half of the season. Â

"We're pleased with the way we shared the basketball," May said. "We looked like an unselfish group for most of the game. Obviously on defense, we can't have the second half lapses that we did tonight. But overall, we're very pleased with where we are heading into conference play against FIU. We have a deep and very talented roster along with a tight-nit group. We are excited to see what we can do the rest of the way."

Conference USA play will begin this Saturday, when the Owls welcome their in-state rivals FIU to town. Game time on Dec. 17 is 2 p.m.
