BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic volleyball team (13-10, 3-8 C-USA) will close out its 2022 home slate this weekend, beginning with the No.22-ranked WKU Hilltoppers (23-2, 11-0 C-USA) on Friday, Nov. 4 for a 7 p.m. first serve inside FAU Arena.
- The Owls enter the weekend at 13-10 overall and a 3-8 in C-USA play.
- Head coach Fernanda Nelson is in her 11th season leading the Owls and has amassed a 152-134 record throughout her time in Boca Raton.
- As a team, the Owls led the conference in total assists with 1,062 and assists per set, averaging 12.6 this season.
- The Owls are led by sophomore trio Valeria Rosado, Katelynn Robine, and Klara Zarnovicka who have registered 3.36, 2.92, and 2.64 kills per set, respectively. Rosado's team-leading kills per set also ranks her sixth in Conference USA.
- Fellow sophomore and Owls' setter Noelle Stephens as dished out a team-leading 759 assists, averaging 9.04 per set, and has helped the Owls to a .227 attack percentage as a team this season.
- Senior Camryn Vogler anchors the Owls' backline, averaging 3.68 digs per set, while Rosado has tallied a team second-best 2.52 digs per set.
- Senior Lauryn Green and junior Alicia Hearn lead FAU at the net, posting 0.83 blocks per set each, with Green posting a team-best 65 total blocks this season.
- The Owls battled back-and-forth with Middle Tennessee, falling just short in the final set of their five-set battle against the Blue Raiders, 2-3, this past Sunday in Murfreesboro.
- WKU enters Friday's contest 23-2 overall and with an unbeaten 11-0 record in C-USA play.
- Head coach Travis Hudson is in his 28th season leading the Hilltoppers and has amassed a 716-220 career record over his near three-decade career in Bowling Green.
- The Hilltoppers are led by Lauren Matthews and Paige Briggs on the attack. Matthews paces the team and ranks second in C-USA with 3.99 kills per set, while hitting a C-USA second-best .400 clip.
- Setter Callie Bauer leads C-USA in assists with 905 and averages a league-leading 10.90 assists per set and has directed the Hilltopper offense to a .320 attacking percentage as a team this season.
- Defensively, the Hilltoppers are anchored by libero Abbie Schaefer, who leads the team with 2.89 digs per set. At the net, the Hilltoppers are led by Katie Isenbarger, who ranks second in C-USA with 1.20 blocks per set and third in total blocks with 98, while Matthews comes in second for the Hilltoppers in total blocks with 86 on the season.
WKU holds a 29-0 all-time series lead against the Owls, including a 14-0 record in Boca Raton. In the last matchup between the two programs, the Hilltoppers took a four-set affair, 3-1, on Oct. 23, 2021, at FAU Arena.
FAU will close out its 2022 home slate on Sunday, Nov. 6 as the Owls host the Charlotte 49ers for senior day. First serve against the 49ers is set for noon inside FAU Arena.
