FAU Prepped for Last C-USA Tourney

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – It's that time of the year again, as it is now conference tournament season. The Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team will compete in the Conference USA Championship Tournament this week.

The single-elimination tourney will begin when the fourth-seeded Owls face the fifth-seeded Lady Techsters of Louisiana Tech on Wednesday, Nov. 2. Tomorrow's match will start at 4:30 p.m. and is available to watch on ESPN+. The Owls are looking to leave C-USA on top, as this is FAU's final season in the conference before switching to the American Athletic Conference next year.

ABOUT THE OWLS
- FAU is making its 10th consecutive appearance in the Conference USA Tournament, a streak that dates back to 2013 and head coach Patrick Baker's first season at FAU
- The Owls reached the C-USA Tournament by going 9-7-3 including 5-4-1 in C-USA play
- Playing strong defense has been a consistent key for the Owls. FAU ranks third in C-USA in goals allowed with only 16 in 19 games for a .85 goals against average. Over the last 18 games, that number increases to 12 goals over 18 games for a .667 GAA
- The stingy Owls' defense has pitched nine shutouts this season
- FAU was well-represented on the C-USA All-Conference teams
- Gi Krstec was named C-USA Midfielder of the Year, while Krstec, Bri Austin and Amanda Martin were named to the All-C-USA First Team
- Hailey Landrus along with Thelma Hermannsdottir were named Third Team All-C-USA, and Morgan McDonald rounded out the Owls' honors with All-Freshman C-USA Team recognition
- Scoring multiple goals has been a key to FAU's success this year, as the Owls are 8-0-0 when they score at least two goals
SERIES HISTORY
- LA Tech got the best of FAU in the regular-season matchup, which was a close one. The Lady Techsters pulled out a 2-1 win over FAU on Oct. 16 in Boca Raton
- Austin scored the equalizer in the second half, but LA Tech sealed the win by scoring with six minutes to play
