BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Owls (10-6, 0-4 C-USA) close out their three-game road trip on Friday, traveling to Charlotte, N.C. to take on the Charlotte 49ers (6-9, 0-3 C-USA) for a 6 p.m. first serve inside Halton Arena.
- The Owls enter this weekend with a 10-6 overall record and a 0-4 mark in C-USA play.
- Head coach Fernanda Nelson is in her 11th season leading the Owls and has accumulated a 149-132 record throughout her time in Boca Raton, putting her just one win away from 150 career wins.
- Senior Lauryn Green has recorded 498 kills over her collegiate career and is just two kills shy of breaking 500 career kills.
- The Owls are led by sophomore trio Valeria Rosado, Katelynn Robine, and Klara Zarnovicka who have registered 3.65, 2.80, and 2.70 kills per set, respectively. Rosado's team-leading kills per set also ranks her fourth in Conference USA.
- Fellow sophomore and Owls' setter Noelle Stephens as dished out a team-leading 507 assists and has helped the Owls to a .240 attack percentage as a team this season.
- Senior Camryn Vogler anchors the Owls' backline, averaging 3.55 digs per set, while Rosado has tallied a team second-best 2.44 digs per set.
- Senior Lauryn Green and Zarnovicka lead FAU at the net, posting 0.85 and 0.61 blocks per set, respectively.
- The Owls battled tough against the No. 22-ranked Rice Owls. After falling behind 2-0 and with Rice holding a 24-18 set-point advantage in the third, FAU rallied to score eight unanswered points to capture the third set 26-24, but ultimately fell 3-1 against Rice.
- The 49ers enter Friday's contest 6-9 overall and with a 0-3 record in league play.
- Head coach Karen Weatherington is in her eighth year leading the 49ers and has amassed a 97-111 record throughout her time in Charlotte.
- The 49ers are led by Emani Foster and Amani McArthur on the attack. Foster paces the team and ranks first in C-USA with 5.20 kills per set, while hitting a .281 clip. Setter Annika Wetterstrom averages 7.95 assists per set and has directed the Charlotte offense to a .250 attacking percentage as a team. Defensively, the 49ers are anchored by libero Sophie Whalen, who leads the team with 3.04 digs per set. At the net, McArthur is leading the 49ers and ranks fourth in C-USA, registering 1.22 blocks per set.
The Owls lead the all-time series against the 49ers, 14-6, including a 6-2 record for matches played in Charlotte. However, Charlotte has won the last four matchups between the two programs, including a 3-1 victory in the last matchup on Oct. 2, 2021, in Charlotte.
