Owls host rival FIU Friday

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University volleyball (13-8, 3-6 C-USA) hosts crosstown rival FIU (6-16, 3-6 C-USA) on Friday, October 28 for a 7 p.m. matchup inside FAU Arena. The game will also be broadcast on Stadium.

Scouting FAU
- The Owls enter this weekend with a 13-8 overall record and a 3-6 mark in league play.
- Head coach Fernanda Nelson is in her 11th season leading the Owls and has amassed a 152-134 overall record during her time in Boca Raton.
- Sophomore Katelynn Robine ranks second in Conference USA in service aces per set, averaging 0.58, and 38 total this season.
- The Owls are led by sophomore trio Valeria Rosado, Katelynn Robine, and Klara Zarnovicka who have registered 3.47, 2.83, and 2.58 kills per set, respectively. Rosado's team-leading kills per set also ranks her sixth in Conference USA.
- Fellow sophomore and Owls' setter Noelle Stephens as dished out a team-leading 670 assists and has helped the Owls to a .224 attack percentage as a team this season.
- Senior Camryn Vogler anchors the Owls' backline, averaging 3.68 digs per set, while Rosado has tallied a team second-best 2.57 per set this season.
- Senior Green and junior Alicia Hearn have been the Owls' biggest net defenders this season, tallying 0.82 blocks per set this season. Green leads the Owls with 58 total blocks so far this year.

- The Owls are coming off a split weekend that saw FAU earn its first C-USA sweep of the year as the Owls defeated LA Tech 3-0. FAU then took on the UAB Blazers on Sunday, falling in straight sets, 0-3, to close out the weekend.
Scouting FIU
- FIU enters Friday's contest at 6-16 overall and 3-6 in C-USA play.
- The Panthers are in their first year under head coach Cristina Robertson, who has led the Panthers to a 6-16 record this season.
- As a team, the Panthers are hitting .176 and average 12.2 kills per set and 11.1 assists per set. Defensively, the Panthers averaging 14.7 digs per set and are recording 1.8 blocks per set this season.
- FIU is led by Emily Meyer and Athina Dimitriadis on the attack. Meyer paces the team with 3.16 kills per set, while hitting a .189 clip. Dimitriadis leads the Panthers with a team-best .311 attack percentage, while averaging a team second-best 2.63 kills per set.
- FIU uses a pair of setters in Sarah Nading and Camila De La Rosa, who average 8.64 and 8.13 assists per set each, respectively. Defensively, FIU is anchored by libero Katie Turner, who has posted a team-leading 4.93 digs per set. At the net, Dimitriadis and Alyssa Wissinger lead the Panthers in blocks, tallying 66 (0.83 per set) and 63 (0.79 per set) on the season, respectively.
Series History
FIU leads the all-time series 35-31 between the Owls and the Panthers. The Panthers hold just a slight edge for contests played in Boca Raton, 18-17. Last fall, the Owls and Panthers split the season series 1-1, with FAU picking up a 3-0 win on Oct. 15, 2021, but falling to FIU 3-0 in the last meeting between the two programs on Oct. 16, 2021, in Miami.Up Next
