BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women's track & field team is back on the road to compete at the Bob Pollock Invitational hosted at Clemson University this weekend. This will be the second of three meets before the 2022 Conference USA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Blazer Invite
- Jessica Lambert set a new school record in the 600m finals, finishing in sixth place with a time of 1:33.22.
- Cara Simpson tied the school record in the 300m finals, finishing at a time of 40.89
- Beyonce Green finished in fifth place in the 500m finals with a new personal record (1:20.20). Naiya Pettaway also had a strong showing in the 500m finals, finishing in eighth place with a personal record of her own (1:26.26)
- Jordan Stevens and Casey O'Connor placed eighth and ninth, respectively, in the 1000m finals. Stevens set a personal record with a time of 3:04.45 while O'Connor finished at 3:06.38.
- Madien Kappeler finished in eighth place in 3000m finals (10:07.20)
Vulcan Invite
- Kappeler was victorious in the 5000m finals, finishing in first place with a time of 17:43.60. Her teammate Alexis Hill finished in second place with a time of 18:46.36, setting her personal record.
- Stevens and Erin Shannon placed in eighth and ninth place, respectively, in the 800m finals. Both set personal records with Stevens at 2:21.79 and Shannon at 2:22.62
- Three owls placed in the top 10 in the finals for the mile run. Paige Saiz finished in fifth place with a new personal record (5:08.36) O'Connor was right behind her in sixth place, finishing with a personal record of 5:09.16. Kappeler finished in 10th place (5:20.72)
- FAU's 'A Squad' finished in sixth place in the 4 x 400 relay finals with a time of 3:56.01
- In her long jump debut, freshman Anna Cincotta placed sixth in the finals with a mark of 5.34 meters.
- O'Connor – 11th in 3000m (10:22.86), 13th in mile (5:09.16)
- Hill – 6th in 5000m (18:46.36)
- Kappeler – 2nd in 5000m (17:43.60), 4th in 3000m (10:07.42)
- Saiz – 11th in 3000m (10:22.86), 12th in mile (5:08.36)
- Shannon – 10th in 800m (2:21.79)
- Morgan Sharp – 8th in 5000m (19:22.66)
- Simpson – 14th in 60m (7.75)
- Stevens – 8th in 800m (2:21.79)
- 4x400 relay (Abraiya Elam, Green, Lambert, and Simpson) – 3rd (3:56.01)
Next weekend, the Owls will travel to Massachusetts to compete against the Harvard Crimson Elite on Friday and in the BU Scarlet Invitational on Saturday.
