2021 NFL Owls – Week 2

BOCA RATON, Fla. – FAUSports.com is proud to update our fans on the exploits of all of the former Owls who are lacing their cleats up each week in the NFL. Here's a rundown of how each performed during the second week of the 2021 NFL season (All gametimes listed below are Eastern):

#51 Azeez Al-Shaair | LB | San Francisco 49ers
- Al-Shaair started at linebacker for the second straight game (and the second straight 49ers' win, 17-11 over Philadelphia), registering five tackles, two solo and three assists. He played every single defensive snap, all 58, marking only the second time in his pro career he hasn't come off the field. The total snaps was the third highest he has played.
49ers' Record: 2-0
Next Game: vs. Green Bay – Sunday Night Football, 8:20 p.m. (NBC)
#88 Harrison Bryant | TE | Cleveland Browns
- Bryant made the most of his 31 offensive snaps (or 51%), catching all four of his targets to match his career best. Those four catches went for 49 yards, the second-highest of his career, and just two less than the Browns' team leader in Sunday's 31-21 win over Houston. Two receptions went for first downs, with a long of 29, which came on the opening drive.
Browns' Record: 1-1
Next Game: vs. Chicago – Sunday, 1 p.m. (FOX)
#91 Trey Hendrickson | DE | Cincinnati Bengals
- Hendrickson posted three tackles, including his first counting stats on an opposing QB for the Bengals, on Sunday. He had 1 1/2 sacks and three QB hits, along with a QB hurry. On his third quarter solo sack, which went for a loss of 16 yards, he forced a fumble, in what was a key point in the game. Unfortunately, the Bears edged out the Bengals, 20-17.
Bengals' Record: 1-1
Next Game: at Pittsburgh (and Pierre) – Sunday, 1 p.m. (CBS)
#1 Greg Joseph | K | Minnesota Vikings
Joseph made two of three field goals (good from 52 yards out each time) along with three of four extra points in his second game as a Viking. He also saw five of his seven kickoffs go into the end zone for touchbacks, averaging 61.7 per (with one, at the end of the half, purposefully kicked short). The Vikings fell to the Cardinals late, 34-33.
Vikings' Record: 0-2
Next Game: vs. Seattle – Sunday, 4:25 p.m. (FOX)
#42 James Pierre | CB | Pittsburgh Steelers
- Coming off his breakout game on opening weekend, Pierre was rewarded with his first career start and matched his seven tackle total, again with six solo and one assist. He ended up playing a career-best 66 snaps - all 100% - at cornerback (more than double his previous high of 31), plus another 15 on special teams, where he recorded one of his stops. The Steelers lost to Las Vegas, 26-17.

Next Game: vs. Cincinnati (and Hendrickson) – Sunday, 1 p.m. (CBS)
#26 Devin Singletary | RB | Buffalo Bills
- In a 35-0 rout of Miami, Motor recorded 91 total yards and a score. On the second play of the Bills' opening drive, on 2nd-and-10, he broke free for a 46-yard rushing touchdown (as seen below), and would total 82 yards on the ground on 13 carries, or 6.3 per. He also caught two of three targets, for nine yards - and worked for those, as he totaled 18 yards after the catch on the day.
