BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team ended the non-Conference USA portion of the season with a Sunday night 1-0 loss to Florida Gulf Coast.
 The Beginning
Neither team was able to score before the break. The Owls (2-4-2) had three shots, but all came in the first half of the first half, but the Eagles (3-4-0) had double the attempts with six.
 The Turning Point:
FGCU's goal came off a set piece early on in the second, with the initial pass in knocked away, but right to an Eagles' attacker. She found the left side of the net for the score.
 The Finish:
The Eagles clamped down defensively, allowing just two Owl attempts over the remaining nearly 33 minutes.
 Notables:
Quotable:
"We said at halftime … the first goal is going to be huge," said head coach Patrick Baker. "And unfortunately off a set piece, which has been our Achilles' heel. Full credit to them, they put it in a dangerous spot, we coughed it up, they had the right player at the right time and (she) finished it. We're chasing the game, chasing the clock, chasing ourselves, and there wasn't much in it after that."
