BOCA RATON, Fla. – The 13th-ranked Florida Atlantic University beach volleyball team will head to the state's capital this week for an exciting four-pack of games, including two against ranked foes.
On Friday and Saturday, the Owls will compete in the FSU Unconquered Invitational in Tallahassee, Florida. They'll battle No. 17 Stetson at 1:15 p.m. and UNF at 3 p.m. on Day One before taking on Coastal Carolina at 8 a.m. and No. 15 FIU at 1:15 p.m. on Day Two.
"We put some work in this week at practice, looking for small improvements on the little things that help big-time to be successful," FAU coach Capri Grotowski said. "As always, we expect no less than everyone – coaches included – to do their best! Go Owls."
FAU knows three of its four opponents well as it played against them earlier this season. The Owls won both of their two matchups against FIU and Stetson, respectively, while falling to UNF in the FAU Sandy Owls Invitational.
In FAU's last tournament, the FAU Sandy Owls Invitational, the team went a respectable 2-2 despite missing key contributors in Erica Brok, Mackenzie Morris and Kaila Dorish. Savannah Pesante and Maylin Bouffard dominated in their stead, winning all four of their matches in two sets. Abby Jackson and Courtney Moon went 3-1 in the event with each win coming in two sets.
After the Unconquered Invitational, FAU will play only two games – against Stetson and FIU on April 17 –before the CCSA Conference Championships, which run April 23-25.
