Swimming & Diving’s Wilkins Receives C-USA Spirit of Service Award

DALLAS – Kara Wilkins of the Florida Atlantic University swimming & diving team has earned the Conference USA Spirit of Service Award, as announced by the league on Monday. Wilkins is one of 14 recipients chosen out of the C-USA winter sports.
The senior has led all FAU student-athletes this semester in community service hours. This academic year, she has volunteered in FAU's WOW Day of Welcome Service, SAAC Beach Clean Up and Campus Clean Up, Boca Raton Walk to End Alzheimer's, Project Thanksgiving Canned Food Drive, MLK Day of Service and Night to Shine.
Wilkins serves as the community relations chair of FAU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, while also partaking as a devoted SAAC member throughout her time at FAU. She is a three-time C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll recipient and six-time FAU Honor Roll member. Wilkins is majoring in psychology and will graduate in May.
In the pool, Wilkins placed 21st in the 200 back (2:08.95), 25th in the 100 back (59.48) and 32nd in the 50 free (25.44) at the C-USA Championships. This marked just her first and only meet of the shortened season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
