Texas Natives Moon, Jackson Collect Consecutive Sweeps

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The 11^th-ranked Florida Atlantic University beach volleyball team battled hard on Day One of the FAU Sandy Owls Invitational, beating Tampa 4-1 and falling to UNF 2-3. FAU (12-6) has now won eight of its last 10 games, including six of its last seven.

The Owls were without Erica Brok and Mackenzie Morris, their winningest pair ever, in addition to standout Kaila Dorish, on Day One of the FAU Sandy Owls Invitational.

Savannah Pesante and Maylin Bouffard exceled for the Owls, collecting sweeps against both UNF and Tampa. The pair of Texas natives Courtney Moon and Abby Jackson also stood out, sweeping both its games.

Match One vs. UNF
The Owls played UNF tough in their first game of the day. Pesante and Bouffard delivered a two-set victory on Court Four, with Moon and Jackson adding another two-set win on Court Three. Jillienne Cangelosi and Logan Mignerey played a nail-biting game on Court Two but fell just short, 22-20, in consecutive sets.

Match Two vs. Tampa
From start to finish, the Owls had the Spartans' number. FAU's Court Three (Moon and Jackson), Four (Pesante and Bouffard) and Five (Richman and Orvieto) pairs opened play with two-set wins. Cangelosi and Mignerey went to three sets on Court Two, claiming a convincing victory with a 15-7 final frame.
