Porter’s Late Goal Pushes Owls Past Miami

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University women's soccer got into the win column for the first time on the young season on Sunday night, 1-0 over Miami, as Miracle Porter's goal in the 78th minute served as the game-winner.
The Beginning:
The best chances of the match were both FAU (1-2-1) strikes, two attempts on a breakaway by Porter in the 28th minute, and after the half, when Molly Setsma nailed the crossbar in the 51st. Despite outshooting the Hurricanes (0-10-1) for the entirety, the Owls were held off the board to that point.
The Finish:
That is, until Porter intercepted an errant pass, and slid her shot attempt to the oncoming UM goalkeeper's left for the score. The Canes had just one shot attempt, and their only corner, in the final 12 minutes, until the clock reached zero.
Highlights
Notables:
"I had chances and chances, and the moment just came at a great time," said Porter. "Seeing the ball slip from her, I looked up, took my touch, made the keeper move her feet, and slotted it. This morning I was waking up, feeling dangerous, and I played dangerous today."

Quotable
"Every game that we've had against Miami has always been back and forth, nip and tuck," said head coach Patrick Baker. "Usually it's the littlest of things that decides the game and tonight was no different. We have not had – and didn't have tonight – our full complement, but I want to (give) props to the 15 players that we did have available to us tonight, because they worked their absolute socks off.""I had chances and chances, and the moment just came at a great time," said Porter. "Seeing the ball slip from her, I looked up, took my touch, made the keeper move her feet, and slotted it. This morning I was waking up, feeling dangerous, and I played dangerous today."
