FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic women's soccer team and Florida Gulf Coast fought to a 3-3 draw on Sunday afternoon at Pickering Field. FAU (2-2-3) has now posted two wins and two ties in its last four outings.

THE TURNING POINT
The Owls and Eagles (2-1-3) traded goals in the early going – The home side first, in the 12th minute, before FAU midfielder Lola Hathorne sent one over the FGCU keeper from well outside the goal box to knot things up just over seven minutes later. Hathorne garnered another goal, from even further distance in the 33rd minute, for what would eventually be a 2-1 Owl lead at the break.

THE FINISH
FGCU tied it 10 minutes into the second half, but it only took 16 seconds for the Owls to move back ahead, on Alex Bayouth's first FAU career goal. Unfortunately, the Eagles had more tally left in them – a header off a corner in the 77th minute. That equaled the score at 3-3 and would prove to be the final goal of the day.

NOTABLES

Hathorne's freshman year now features three goals and three assists in seven matches.
Bayouth has tallied eight total career collegiate goals.
That duo, along with Sephora Joachim, led the squad with two shots each.
Ashley Small and Nikki Holland each logged a half in goal with one and two saves, respectively.
On a hot day in Southwest Florida, only Cicely-Ann Spencer-Wickham didn't come off the pitch. Hailey Santiago played 82 minutes and Sydney Neira 81.
Santiago recorded an assist on Hathorne's first goal of the afternoon.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Owls swing through the Peace Garden State for two matchups: Thursday, Sept. 10 against North Dakota State in Fargo, and then north to Grand Forks to take on North Dakota the following Sunday, Sept. 13.
