Richman, Bouffard Pair Wins Consecutive Matches for Owls

DELAND, Fla. – On Day Two of the Stetson Spring Fling, the 12^th-ranked Florida Atlantic University beach volleyball team split their Sunday matchups, losing to TCU and winning against FIU for the first time in program history. The pair of Lily Richman and Maylin Bouffard collected consecutive victories on the day.

Match 1 vs. TCU
The Horned Frogs had FAU's number, sweeping three of their five matchups. Erica Brok and Mackenzie Morris dropped their court-one match, 21-16, 21-15, while Ellie Austin and Savanah Pesante fell, 25-23, 21-16. Kenley Adams and Jillenne Cangelosi forced a third set in their thrilling court-three matchup, but fell just short at the end, 22-20, 19-12, 15-13. Courtney Moon and Kaila Dorish played a dominant second set but couldn't claim victory in the first and third, losing 15-21, 21-11, 15-12 on court four. Lily Richman and Maylin Bouffard, playing on court five, notched FAU's only win of the game with a score of 21-19, 19-21, 15-11.

Match 2 vs. FIU
Erica Brok and Mackenzie Morris swept their opposing pair, 23-21, 21-15, after losing their first game of the day. Ellie Austin and Savannah Pesante collected a sweep of their own, defeating FIU's court-two pair, 21-16, 21-19. FAU took defeats on court three and court four, though, with Kenley Adams and Jillenne Cangelosi losing 21-16, 21-14 on the third and Courtney Moon and Kaila Dorish falling 21-14, 14-21, 15-12 on the fourth. Lily Richman and Maylin Bouffard delivered the Owls a much-needed victory on court five, taking down FIU's pair with a score of 21-19, 19-21, 15-10.

"The team played great all weekend," FAU coach Capri Grotowski said. "It was so exciting to us all after a very long run with no competition, and I feel we made the most of it and handled it all very well."

FAU will battle LSU and Georgia State in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, as part of the Tiger Beach Challenge on March 6.
