DELAND, Fla. – The 12
th-ranked Florida Atlantic University beach volleyball team picked up where it left off last season, sweeping its first two matches of 2021 to mark 12-straight victories. On Day One of the Stetson Spring Fling, the Owls defeated a pair of top-15 foes in No. 14 South Carolina and No. 11 Stetson.

Match One vs. South Carolina
Erica Brok and
Mackenzie Morris, the winningest pair in FAU history, continued their victorious ways with a 22-20, 21-17 sweep on court one. On court two,
Ellie Austin and
Savannah Pesante collected a 21-17, 21-13 sweep of their own. FAU's sweeps didn't end with those two, as
Kenley Adams and
Jillenne Cangelosi notched a 21-14, 21-17 victory on court three. The pairs of
Courtney Moon and
Kaila Dorish (court four), in addition to
Lily Richman and
Maylin Bouffard (court five), both lost, 19-21, 21-11, 15-8 and 21-19, 21-19, respectively. FAU's extra pair, featuring
Logan Mignerey and
Alivia Orvieto, swept their opposing pair 21-18, 21-15.

After sweeping their opposing pair in Game One, Brok and Morris faced a stiffer challenge in Game Two, winning 21-17, 19-21, 15-9.
Ellie Austin and
Savannah Pesante were unable to win two straight, losing to Stetson's court-two pair by a score of 15-21, 21-18, 19-17. On court five, Richman and Bouffard rebounded strongly from their game-one loss, sweeping Stetson's pair with consecutive 22-20s.
Courtney Moon and
Kaila Dorish swept their opposing pair in tightly-contested fashion, 24-22, 23-21.
Abby Jackson and
Campbell Atkins, FAU's extra pair, won in three sets (17-21, 21-14, 20-18).
Kenley Adams and
Jillenne Cangelosi lost in two sets on court three, 21-18, 21-10.
