BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men's golf team will return to tournament play for the first time since March 2020 on Friday. From Feb. 19-21, the Owls will be competing in the Desert Intercollegiate.
"I can't believe it's finally here!" FAU coach
Ryan Jamison said. "We are so very grateful to be in this position to compete and we have definitely put in a lot of hard work to get here. We are very grateful for the work of all of our athletic staff. This year will be an incredible journey and we can promise that we will work hard and learn from all things we encounter. Our guys have learned so much about themselves in this last year. Perseverance was strong! The start of our schedule is here at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate and I look forward to putting all of our hard work to the test. Go Owls!"
Wyoming is hosting the three-day, 21-team tournament at the Classic Club in Palm Desert, California. No. 17 Kansas, No. 38 Georgia Tech, No. 42 San Diego, No. 46 Oregon are the field's highest ranked teams. The top-three teams and individuals will earn awards.
Teams will play a practice round on Thursday before officially starting on Friday. FAU is slated to tee off from 7-7:40 a.m. Pacific each day. Golfstat will provide live scoring.
The Desert Intercollegiate is a familiar event to the Owls, as they played in it a season ago. As a team, FAU finished 13th with an 883.
Alex Maguire, the squad's highest finisher, shot a 221 to tie for 47th.
