Owls' Weekend in Review
The Owls (5-4) clinched a winning homestand with a 76-41 romp Sunday over North Florida. Bryan Greenlee led a balanced scoring attack with 14 points, while Michael Forrest needed seven to reach 1,000 for his career, and totaled 13 in the win. All 13 Owls that dressed saw the floor, with 11 recording 10 minutes of action or more.
That duo makes up two of the top three scorers on the squad thus far: Forrest at 15.7 and Greenlee at an even 10 per night, with backcourt mate Alijah Martin sandwiched between them, scoring 13 a contest. Vladislav Goldin's 6.0 rebounds a game is just ahead of Martin's 5.6, while Greenlee ranks among the Conference USA leaders in eighth, averaging 4.3 assists per game.
Owls' Opponent in Preview
Palm Beach Atlantic (3-5), a Division II member of the Sunshine State Conference from just up the road in West Palm Beach, has lost three straight after a three-game win streak. The Sailfish were picked ninth in the preseason SSC coaches poll after an abbreviated 2-5 season in 2020-21. The year prior, the squad was 21-9 and made it to the NCAA Tournament (that was canceled due to the pandemic). Leading the team in scoring currently is Jules Jasmin at 13.8 points per game, just ahead of Will Lee's 12.5.
Opponent History
FAU has a spotless 7-0 mark against PBA, with all seven games being held at FAU Arena, most recently an 84-79 Owls' win on Nov. 16, 2019; the year prior, FAU took a 73-62 victory. Before 2019, the teams had a long layoff in the series, with games played only from 1988 to 1991.
After This
A week from tomorrow, Wednesday, Dec. 15, the Owls travel to Richmond, Virginia to take on VCU, in just the team's second road matchup of the year. The next home game is two days after, Dec. 17, hosting Florida Tech at 7 p.m. Single-game and season tickets are on sale: for single-game, see this release, and for season tix, see this release.
