David Musis Becomes First Israeli-Born Player to Sign with Owls

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic Head Men's Basketball Coach John Jakus has announced the signing of 7-footer David Musis to the 2026-27 roster. The newest Owl, Musis is the first player to hail from Israel in program history.
Musis, who turned 18 on Tuesday, plays for Ramat Hasharon in the Israeli National League. He earned his most playing time for the squad in the latter part of the 2025-26 season, averaging 10.7 points and 6.0 rebounds over the last month of play, including career highs and a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds on May 3.
"David is a special player and a special person, and we're excited to welcome someone with his basketball pedigree to our team," said Jakus. "As a National Team member in Israel, he has competed at a high level internationally for some time. David becomes the 15th and final member of our 2026-27 roster and I want to thank our staff and department for their efforts in recruiting and attracting this talented team to Paradise."
Musis was a member of the U-16 FIBA EuroBasket Israeli men's national team in 2024, and, as a 16-year-old, played on the Israeli U-18 team in 2025. During that latter tournament, he averaged 6.7 points – on 52.9% shooting from the field – and 4.7 rebounds in just over 13 minutes per game. The squad played in seven games in Serbia, defeating Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Austria, with Musis' best showing being a 10-point, 8-rebound effort in the victory over Austria.
"South Florida is home to a large, prominent Israeli-American community which will offer David many of the comforts of home and help make Florida Atlantic the best place for him to develop his talents on and off the court," said FAU President Adam Hasner. "Our athletics program and campus community is excited to welcome him to Paradise."
Musis will join the squad when the fall semester starts after completing his stint with the Israeli national team. His addition means that the Owls will now have boasted players from 20 different international countries since the program's inaugural year in 1988.
He is the third freshman to join the 2026-27 team, alongside Franck Belibi Jr., and Felipe Quinones, and is the third player from outside of North America to be added to the roster, joining Milhan Charles (France) and Fawaz "Tacko" Ifaola (Nigeria).
