Cleary Joins Baseball Staff

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Michael Cleary has joined the FAU baseball staff as a volunteer assistant. His primary on-field duties will include working with the Owl outfielders and coaching first base, and he will also assist coach Greg Mamula with the team's baserunning.

Cleary comes to FAU after time spent as a volunteer assistant at his alma mater, the University of Dayton. He coordinated the Flyers' outfield defense, assisted coaching with the hitters and baserunners, and threw batting practice.

While a member of the UD squad, he started 126 games over four years and was a team captain. He held a career fielding percentage of .989 and OBP of .409, with 91 runs scored. He was a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference All-Rookie Team after his freshman campaign.

"We are excited to have Michael join us," said head coach John McCormack. "I look forward to working with him. He is a young coach with tons of energy and a real passion for teaching."

Cleary graduated from Dayton with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in finance.
