BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University men's basketball has its home opener Saturday, against Warner, the first of nine straight games for the Owls on Abessinio Court inside FAU Arena. Tipoff is at 4 p.m., in the eighth all-time meeting against the Royals.

Owls' Game in Review
The Owls (0-1) just returned from Albuquerque after having taken on New Mexico Wednesday night. A high-scoring affair saw the Lobos come out on top, 99-92. Michael Forrest led four Owls in double digits with 26 points. Bitumba Baruti's FAU debut saw him score all 15 of his points in the second half, and pull down a team-high nine rebounds as well. Madiaw Niang set a career best by scoring 14, and Vladislav Goldin tallied 10 points in his first contest as an Owl, also a collegiate high.

Owls' Opponent in Preview
Warner (3-1), a member of the Sun Conference, was voted by the league coaches this preseason to repeat as league champions. After going 19-7 (15-5 SUN) in 2020-21, the Royals won their first three matchups this year before falling to Wilberforce on Nov. 5. So far, Darryl Mercer is the team's leading scorer at 21.8 points per game.

Opponent History
Warner upset the Owls the last time these two teams played, 75-72, on Nov. 17, 2015. FAU had won the first six games in the series.
