Former Owl Baba Miller Becomes 16th Jakus-Coached Player Drafted to NBA

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Baba Miller, former Florida Atlantic men's basketball player, was selected by the Los Angeles Clippers with the No. 36 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.
With the second-round selection, Miller becomes the 16th John Jakus-coached player to be drafted into the NBA. He joins the likes of Yvess Missi, Ja'Kobe Walter, Keyonte George, Kendall Brown, Jeremy Sochan, Davion Mitchell, Jared Butler, Rui Hachimura, Zach Collins, Nigel Williams-Goss, Domantas Sabonis, Taurean Prince, Cory Jefferson, Isaiah Austin, and Pierre Jackson.
With the Owls for the 2024-25 season following two seasons at Florida State, Miller led the team with 7.0 rebounds per game as well as 1.7 blocks to go with 11.3 points. He ended the year on the American's All-Conference second team.
Miller then finished his collegiate career with Cincinnati, leading the Big 12 at 10.3 rebounds per game while averaging 13.0 points earning All-Big 12 Second Team honors. He became the first Bearcat since Oscar Robertson to lead the team in points, rebounds, and assists in a single season.
In 2025, Alijah Martin became the first Owl alum to be drafted into the NBA, selected by the Toronto Raptors at pick No. 39, and finished his rookie season playing 23 games. He earned All-NBA G League Third Team honors, All-Rookie G League, and was a member of the G League Showcase team at the 2026 NBA All Star Weekend. Martin was soon joined professionally by Vladislav Goldin, who signed a two-way contract with the Miami HEAT and made nine appearances in his rookie campaign. Johnell Davis signed a summer league deal with the Orlando Magic and later joined their G-League affiliate Osceola Magic.
