BOCA RATON, Fla.Â
– The regular season finale for the Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team will take place against Old Dominion on Thursday night. First touch is set for 7 p.m., and the Owls will hold Senior Night pregame to honor their four senior members:
Cassidy Wasdin,
Emma Grissom,
Sammy Vitols, and
Miracle Porter.
The Stakes Are High
The drama in the Conference USA standings is coming down to the wire, as FAU still has a chance at capturing the C-USA East Division title. Currently, ODU holds first with 16 points, but the Monarchs are just one point ahead of WKU and two up on FAU. If FAU beats ODU, and WKU loses or ties to Charlotte, FAU will win its third C-USA East Division Championship in the last four seasons. WKU and Charlotte also play at 7:00 p.m. Thursday night.
Owls' Friday in Review
FAU won its third straight game with a 1-0 decision over WKU last time out. Porter provided the game-winner with a strike in the 26
th minute, which was her team-leading fifth score of the year.
Amit Cohen and the defense pitched its third shutout of the year. The clean sheet was also the second straight road shutout, a feat that the Owls have not accomplished since the end of the 2017 season.
Owls' Thursday in Preview
The Monarchs are looking to bounce back after a surprising 1-0 defeat at the hands of FIU last time out. ODU leads the Conference USA in defense with just eight goals surrendered on the season, which is three less than the next-best defense.
Opponent History
Old Dominion has had FAU's number in this head-to-head series, with a record of 4-1-3 against the Owls all-time.
