NFL Owls – Super Wild Card Weekend

BOCA RATON, Fla. – FAUSports.com is proud to update our fans on the exploits of all of the former Owls who are lacing their cleats up each week in the NFL. Here is the rundown of the first weekend of the 2020 NFL playoffs. For postseason purposes, the below players will be grouped below by team. Of the nine NFL Owls that represented the five teams last weekend, seven remain alive for the Divisional Round.

Buffalo – #74 Brandin Bryant, DT (practice squad); #26 Devin Singletary, RB
Wild Card Result: The Bills defeated Indianapolis, 27-24
Stats: Singletary totaled 46 yards from scrimmage: three carries for 21 yards and three catches for 23. He gained two first downs, both rushing, and played nearly 2/3 of the Bills' offensive snaps (39 of 59)
Next: Buffalo hosts Baltimore on Saturday Night Football at 8:15 p.m. on NBC
Cleveland – #88 Harrison Bryant, TE
Wild Card Result: The Browns won their first playoff game since Jan. 1, 1995, dominating Pittsburgh, 48-37
Stats: Bryant played 22 offensive snaps, and six more on special teams, but was not targeted
Next: Cleveland travels to play the AFC's top seed, Kansas City, on Sunday at 3:05 p.m. on CBS
New Orleans – #91 Trey Hendrickson, DE
Wild Card Result: The Saints advanced past Chicago, 21-9
Stats: Hendrickson was inactive due to injury. He returned to practice Wednesday in a limited capacity
Next: New Orleans hosts Tampa Bay on Sunday Night Football, 6:40 p.m. on FOX
Pittsburgh – #42 James Pierre, DB; #62 Brandon Walton, OT (practice squad)
Wild Card Result: The Steelers were upset by Cleveland, 48-37
Stats: Pierre tallied two solo tackles among 22 snaps (eight defensive and 14 – or 40% - on special teams). He was targeted once, coming up with a key pass defense at corner (below), and his tackles came on a first quarter punt return and late second quarter kickoff. He was highlighted on a Steelers' blog afterwards HERE
Next: The Steelers' season is over
Tampa Bay – #5 John Franklin III, WR (reserve/IR); #1 Greg Joseph, PK (practice squad, protected); #36 Herb Miller, CB (practice squad, protected)
Wild Card Result: The Buccaneers overcame the Washington Football Team, 31-23
Stats: Miller was elevated to the Bucs' active roster for the matchup, but was inactive. He has since been placed back on the practice squad, but like Joseph, is protected from being claimed by another playoff team
Next: Tampa Bay is on the road to play New Orleans on Sunday Night Football, 6:40 p.m. on FOX
