Collegiate athletics came to a halt in mid-March. With social distancing, remote work schedules and the inability to gather to cheer on our favorite teams, came a void. The void of seeing our favorite teams compete; the void of watching our favorite student-athletes grow and improve.
Florida Atlantic athletics recognizes that void and has seized the opportunity by providing an opportunity for fans to get to know the FAU athletes and coaches in a series called "Owl Letters." It is just one of the #WinningInParadise series that FAUSports.com will bring to you, our loyal fans.
Dear Owl Golf,
To say that these are difficult times would be an understatement. We entered this year with so many aspirations and personal expectations for ourselves. Many of our ambitions we achieved. We had an excellent captain and leader – thanks Sully – the No. 2 freshman output in the country, the highest national ranking in FAU history and so many other accomplishments that I won't name. You men push yourself every day and learned how to fight for something bigger than all of us: FAU.
While I understand the disappointment that looms large from the unfortunate circumstances, we must use our knowledge of teamwork and personal growth to fight for a bigger team: the world at large. FAU Golf will be back and will continue to flourish because of the culture that you all bought in to. But for the moment, we need to help a friend in need, be there for our families, execute our academics to the best of our abilities and continue to push the envelope in every area like we know how: win. W.I.N. What's important now. We are all being pushed during these times, and I promise we will persevere. We are built for this.
Always Winning in Paradise,
Coach Jamison
Thank you
