Women’s Swimming & Diving’s Kok Gathers C-USA Spirit of Service Award

DALLAS – Sharon Kok of the Florida Atlantic University women's swimming & diving team has been recognized as the school's recipient of the Conference USA Spirit of Service Award, as announced by the league on Tuesday. Kok is one of 14 recipients chosen in C-USA from the winter sports: men's and women's basketball, men's and women's indoor track & field and women's swimming & diving.
Kok accumulated more than 125 community service hours throughout the 2019-20 academic year. The senior led the way with beach cleanups, school service events and initiatives to promote mental health, breast cancer and Alzheimer's. Kok received a 3.31 GPA with a focus in communication studies.
The Springfield, Illinois native wrapped up her final year with nine top-five individual finishes, including a first-place feat in the 200 free on her Senior Day against SUNY Geneseo. She marked third place in the 500 free (5:08.40) against No. 10 Florida, third in the 500 free vs. FIU (5:22.36) and second in the 200 free against Indian River State (1:54.76). Kok has been a member of the team all four years.
