ATLANTA – The longest road trip of the year for Florida Atlantic University men's tennis opened up on Saturday, with the Owls falling to Georgia State, 4-2.
Notables:
- GSU (2-6) notched the doubles point with wins on No. 3 and No. 1
- The Owls (5-7) took the first singles decision, on No. 1, with Filip Krolo posting a straight-set 6-4, 6-1 win to tie things
- The Panthers rallied back with to take the lead on back-to-back wins on No. 6 and No. 3
- FAU pulled within one at 3-2, as Yovan Lambros earned a three-set victory at No. 5, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1
- The clincher came at No. 1, as Jason Legall had battled back to force a third set, but was just squeaked past, 1-6, 6-1, 5-7
- Alvaro Fernandez Horta was tied in his decisive set as the match was decided (6-1, 4-6, 4-4)
Assistant Coach Matthew Lasprilla:
"Tough battle today that didn't go our way in the end. I am very happy with how the guys competed and fought for each other. We have another tough test tomorrow against a very good Clemson team. We will focus on recovery now and be ready for tomorrow."
