Final Results
HOUSTON – The Florida Atlantic University women's track & field team finished a notable day of competition at the Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational hosted by the University of Houston. The Owls put up three personal records, several freshmen posted strong performances and more student-athletes punched a ticket to the finals in their respective events.

- Anne-Catherine Wasser came alive in the 400m dash, tallying a proverbial podium finish of third place (57.00). Newcomer Jessica Lambert followed in fourth (58.34) for a strong first indoor race
- Mikaela Jonsson tallied fourth in the 800m run with a time of 2:15.52. Brooke Butterfield followed in 13th (2:21.95)
- Cara Simpson logged a personal record in the long jump, tallying sixth in the event (5.51m). Her finish is the fourth best in school history
- Simpson closed out her field events with fifth place in the triple jump, as she finished with 11.62m
- Lyric Schmalz advanced to the finals in the 60m hurdles for the third consecutive meet. The graduate student posted a sixth place finish in the finals with a time of 8.83. Reneé Shaw was just short of qualifying for finals, taking 10th with a personal record time of 9.03
- The 3000m run was led by a notable seventh place finish by freshman Morgan Sharp (10:49.87), which also marked a personal record. Alexis Hill (11:07.30) and Nina Endt (11:25.53) finished in ninth and 10th, respectively
- FAU's 4x400 relay team of Schmalz, Casey O'Connor, Sharp and Simpson finished ninth (4:11.86)
- For O'Connor's first indoor race, the freshman came up with 10th in the mile (5:14.45). Lauren Macon followed in 12th by clocking in a personal record time of 5:21.94
- In the 200 meter dash, Roshelle Francois finished in 16th with a time of 25.25, while being followed by Wasser in 21st (25.53)
- The Owls' distance medley team of O'Connor, Butterfield, Hannah Herbst and Macon captured second with a time of 12:39.79Â
"We saw many improvements from last week in Birmingham," said head coach
Alex Smolka. "Today was another step in the right direction, as we are continuing to improve and all of our hard work looks like it is paying off. I'm excited for the future!"
