BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team returns home to host Middle Tennessee and UAB on Thursday, Jan. 16 and Saturday, Jan. 18, respectively. There will be a student tailgate prior to Thursday's game and the first 500 students in attendance will receive a "Paradise Vice" t-shirt and free pizza. Thursday's tailgate will start at 3 p.m.
Last Week: The Owls (11-6, 3-1 Conference USA) defeated Rice 81-76 on Thursday, with
Cornelius Taylor scoring a season-high 34 points and
Dardan Kapiti adding a career-high 10 points in the win. FAU lost to North Texas 81-58 on Saturday despite 11 points from
Michael Forrest.
About Middle Tennessee: The Blue Raiders (4-13, 0-4) have lost their last eight games in a row, but are led by the backcourt duo of C. J. Jones and Antonio Green, who average 16.4 and 12.1 points per game, respectively.
About UAB: The Blazers (11-6, 2-2) swept their homestand last week, defeating WKU and Marshall. Reigning C-USA Freshman of the Week Jalen Benjamin leads the team at 11.8 points per game. Sophomore guard Tavin Lovan is second at 11.0 points per contest.
History: Middle Tennessee holds a 19-5 lead over FAU in the all-time series.
Anthony Adger scored a career-high 33 points in a 63-56 Owls' win last season in Murfreesboro. The victory snapped a 12-game losing streak to the Blue Raiders.
FAU trails UAB 10-2 all-time. The Blazers defeated FAU 67-50 in the C-USA opener for both teams last year.
