The Owls took the lead early with a goal in the sixth minute. Tom Abrahamsson found Alex Alexis deep in FIU territory. Alexis one-touched it back to a streaking Abrahamsson who found the back of the net. In the 31st minute, a FAU player was given a red card and the Owls were down to 10 men for the rest of the game.
FIU didn't wait long to tie things up. In the eighth minute, the Panthers scored their first goal. FIU took a 3-1 lead into halftime and added three goals in the second half.
- Abrahamsson's first half goal was the first of his young career with the Owls
- It was also the first career assist for Alexis
- Hagay Jalon got the start against FIU. Daniel Ragoo took over in the second half. Jalon exited with one save and Ragoo had eight saves
- The Owls had 10 shots and seven on goal
The Owls hit the road for the first time in the 2019 season at No. 17 Kentucky. That match is set for Saturday, September 21 and will start 7:30 p.m.
