Last year at the Mountain Dew Invitational, the women's team finished 12th among 27 teams with 329 points.
Mikaela Jonsson was the top finisher at 18:17.93, which was enough for a 35th place finish and a new personal record.
Megan Giovanniello (18:56.30),
Brooke Butterfield (19:40.20) and
Morgan Sharp (20:02.40) all clocked in personal records as well. Florida's Jessica Pascoe crossed the finish line first in 16:13.87 and the Gator women took the crown with North Florida coming in second at the Division I level.
On the men's side, the team finished ninth place out of 22 teams with 310 points.
Lachlan Shiver finished the race in 25:44.11 for fourth place.
Sean Barone also clocked in a personal record in the 8K with 26:51.08, claiming 67th place. Florida A&M's David Too was the top finisher, clocking in at a time of 24:11.58. The Rattlers won the men's title with Tennessee Tech following in second.
The Owls got off to a hot start at the sixth annual FAU Invitational, as FAU had the top men's and women's finishers. The women's team made history, as they set a new record for the lowest average time of the top-five finishers. FAU featured five runners in the top-10, which was highlighted by
Madlen Kappeler's individual title. Kappeler's time of 18:17.71 put her at No. 10 in the top-10 5K times in FAU history.
On the men's side, Shiver was able to defend his title with his time of 15:22.44, which is the second fastest time in school history and behind the record he holds at FAU. Three other Owls finished within the top-30 and
Cristian Moreno set a new personal record (16:47.24).
