CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Florida Atlantic University track and field team wrapped up the Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Sunday. The day was highlighted by Natalliah Whyte taking home gold in the 100 meter dash, resetting the Irwin Belk Track record after breaking during yesterday's preliminary round.
"Life is full of highs and lows. This weekend is certainly an example of that. We are thrilled by Natalliah's championship win, and very happy that it looks like she and Anca (Anne-Catherine Wasser) punched their tickets to the NCAA Championship first round. At the same time, our overall team performance wasn't at all what we hoped for. We had a lot of points slip through our fingers. We did have some people perform well and miss scoring points by fractions of a second, but we just weren't able to get over the hump."
The NCAA Championship Regionals will be held in Jacksonsville, Florida May 23-25. The Owls will wait to see where their times stack up and if those qualify for regionals.
